Maia Daguerre, Region Manager
I started working for Girlguiding North East England in January 2012. My work until then included managing support services for a national charity and the Information Services team for City of York Libraries. I also have extensive administration and training experience gleaned from working in the private, public and voluntary sectors. When I’m not at work I love reading, singing and, when my four playful cats allow me, knitting and crocheting.
My role as Region Manager is to manage the staff and facilities at the Region office and support the Chief Commissioner and Executive Team. I am also the office contact for a number of Regional events.
Sally Jackson, Finance Assistant
I have been part of the Region office team since 2000 and I’m in the office three days a week. As Finance Assistant I deal with payment of invoices and expenses, and I also oversee Queen’s Guide Award, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Starting New Unit Grants.
I have been active in Guiding from a very early age and I currently hold several voluntary roles in the organisation ranging from Guide and Brownie Leader to County Adviser.
Hazel Creaghan, Membership Growth and Retention Administrator
I joined the Region team in July 2014 as a recent graduate from the University of York. My time at work is spent providing administrative support for all things ‘Membership Systems’ – Join Us, and Go!. Part of my role is finding great examples of guiding and training volunteers in their areas so they can grow guiding locally.
I am originally from Durham and have been involved in Guiding since I was a Rainbow. Now based in York, I volunteer with a local Guide unit and am a member of a Ranger unit. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the ukulele and nail art.
Sharron Little, Events Administrator
I joined the Region Team in November 2016 as an Administration Assistant and in July 2017 I became the Events Administrator. I usually work Monday-Friday from 9am to 2pm and I am the link in the Region Office between the lead volunteers organising events and the participants who are taking part as well as dealing with the administration aspect of all Region events.
Originally from Scarborough, I have been a Brownie and Guide and am now an adult volunteer as a Leader in a Guide Unit. I love cats, baking and spending time with my family.
Audrey Morrall, Marketing and Communications Assistant
I joined the team in 2017 and work part time in the office, on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. I work with the wider staff and Region team alongside my role of Lead Volunteer for Marketing and Communications. I am keen improve the way we communicate with our members and the wider public and promote what we do.
I have been a volunteer with Girlguiding for 40 years and held many roles in that time. Currently I am a Guide Leader with Collingham Guides and Chairman of Leeds County Campsite, Robin Hole.
Julie Redpath, Administration Assistant
I joined the team in 2017 and work full time in the Region office. My role here is to provide administrative support to the team.
I have lived and worked in York all my life. In my spare time I am an Akela for a Cub pack in York, which I enjoy very much, it certainly keeps me busy. I have two children and enjoy family time with them. I am an avid reader and am often to be found looking round museums and art galleries.
