Jigsaw International Camp 2018 Information


Jigsaw International Camp 2018 from Saturday 28 July to 4 August 2018.  A week long camp for Guides and Senior Section but there are also opportunities for Rainbows and Brownies to camp for shorter periods. There will also be a sub camp for Trefoil Guild members.

Activities on offer

Sunday – There will be an opening ceremony followed by a Country Fair with animals, vehicles, lots of sideshows and displays, performers and demonstrations and amazing things to do.

During the week, each morning/afternoon you will travel round a variety of zones (some off site) with different things to do in each.

Some of the things on offer include:-

  • Sports and games, for all abilities
  • Climbing, cycling, archery, shooting, and pioneering
  • A range of craft for the artistic and not so artistic. Try pottery, felting, jewellery making and  be amazed by what you can do
  • There will be community action projects running through the week. Working with North   Yorkshire Moors Railway and Yorkshire Arboretum other projects to be announced in due     course
  •  Enjoy the international aspect of camp and explore WAGGGS’ resources and activities and hopefully meet some international visitors
  • Water activities including kayaking, canoeing and sailing
  • Visit the Birds of Prey Centre
  • Visit the local area. Helmsley has lots to offer, town trails, walks, visits to the Castle and much more
  • Wednesday there will be an opportunity for a day out and your unit can choose where to go – York, Whitby or Scarborough. Once you are there, you will choose what you do.

On an evening there will be a range of different activities and options. You can make a bivvy and sleep out one evening, there will be campfires, board games and quizzes, films, pampering activities, a pioneering play zone, a badge swap area, and more….

There will be a Jigsaw Challenge to complete and a badge when you complete it.

Brownies and Rainbows will have an equally exciting programme scaled down for their age groups and the length of time they are in camp.

Members of the Trefoil Guild will also be in camp, helping with the coffee shop and organising their own exciting programme whilst joining us at times during the week.  Trefoil Guild members staying for the full week will be invited to join one of our away day trips on the Wednesday.
