Rainbow Rally at Flamingo Fling FAQs


Who is it for?

Rainbows and their Leaders.


What is it?

To celebrate the 30th birthday of Rainbows we are inviting 30 Rainbows and their Leaders to join Brownies, Guides and Members of the Senior Section from across the Region at the overnight camp element of Flamingo Fling at Flamingo Land.


How many can attend?

We are inviting 30 Rainbows and their Leaders to attend. We are offering six units the chance to bring five Rainbows and two Leaders to camp overnight.  There is no option to stay in a holiday home instead.


Why is the number so small?

This is the maximum number of Rainbows who can attend a Girlguiding large scale event.


How much will it cost and what does it include?

The cost of this unique sleepover option will be £50 per Rainbow and £40 per Leader. This includes Saturday evening buffet tea and entertainment, breakfast on Sunday, an event badge and some extra very special elements to make the event very memorable for the Rainbows (all very top secret!). We will not ask for any payment until we know who has been successful in the draw for places.


Are tents provided?

Yes, you will have your own very special Rainbow camping area where your tents will be ready and waiting for you when you arrive, which will make everything very easy and stress free for you and your Rainbows. You will need however to bring your own rollmats and sleeping bags.


What time does the Rainbow Rally start and end?

The Guiding Manual states that Rainbow overnight events must not exceed 24 hours, including travel, from when care of the girls is transferred to the Leader. To make this practical for you and to make the most of time at the event, perhaps you could ask parents to bring girls to the event for a 12 noon drop off on the Saturday and collect them at 12 noon on the Sunday?  The Rainbow Rally girls will be allowed access to the park on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.


Do the fees include transport?

No, you must arrange your own transport to and from the event and be responsible for any costs.


We want to come, how do we apply?

We will select units at a random draw which will take place on Monday 3 April 2017. If you are interested in being considered for this special event, please email with the name of your Rainbow Unit.


When will we know if we have been successful?

We will let you know as soon as possible after 3 April 2017 so you can still apply for day tickets if you are not successful.
