Are you looking for a Bronze, Silver or Gold assessment expedition but do not have a group of at least 4 people to do it with? Or are you a group of at least 4 planning a practice but you are all new to it so need some support, or do you not have a leader who can supervise you? If so this is the weekend for you.

This is open to all those wanting an assessment at Bronze, Silver level or Gold levels. It is also open to groups running an assessment for the first time who would like support. The Bronze assessment will take place on 30-31 August 2019 and you will need to communicate in advance with your group to do the planning. The Silver assessment will be 29-31 August 2019 and the planning will again be done in advance electronically. The Gold assessment is from the late afternoon of 27 August when we meet beforehand at a Youth Hostel to meet the assessor and finalise details, before beginning the expedition proper on the morning of 28 August then completing it on Saturday 31 August.

At all levels the routes will be planned on eDofE mapping so you will need to be familiar with it.

It is essential that all the training is signed off and you have successfully completed a practice before attending for assessment. This will be on eDofE.

Individual participants:

If you do not have a group of your own, so long as at least 4 people apply you will make up a group. If you attend the Training Weekend run by Girlguiding North East England you will have covered most of the topics.

Leaders of groups:

If you are the adult leader of a Bronze / Silver / Gold group running an expedition for the first time you can make use of our experience and expertise in supervising expeditions. We will give you the campsites but your group will be free to plan their own route based on that. The cost for the weekend will be the same as given above.

The cost of the Assessment Expedition includes all campsite fees, and an overnight stay in Youth Hostel with evening meal and breakfast for Gold groups. It also covers all the costs of adult support and any group equipment which which needs to be provided.

There is funding available to help with the costs for leaders attending any of these expeditions to gain experience if they either live in or are working with girls from disadvantaged areas. Please contact the region office for an application form.
