Volunteering opportunities

Volunteering for Girlguiding:  Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. By volunteering with us, you can help us create amazing opportunities for all girls in North East England. Our volunteers give girls a space where they can build their confidence, raise their aspirations and have fantastic fun.

There are lots of ways you can volunteer with Girlguiding – it’s flexible and can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle. No matter how much or how little time you have, every hour counts.

How to apply:  To register your interest in becoming a volunteer please go to

Region DofE Lead Volunteers

There are two opportunities to join the region team and support the DofE offer in North East England.

The first post will have oversight of the whole award within North East England and would be the point of contact with Girlguiding nationally and DofE.

The second will coordinate and support young women undertaking their expeditions.

Find details of both roles here.  If you would like to discuss any aspect of this with the current DofE adviser please contact the office.

If you are interested in expressing an interest in either of these roles (or even feel that there are parts of the role you could cover) please email with your name, and membership number and a short statement about yourself including:

  • which role you would like to apply for
  • how you feel you meet the requirements of the role
  • what experience, skills or qualities you have that you would bring to the role
  • why you wish to be considered for this role within the Girlguiding North East England region team

Please give examples where you can, of the skills and knowledge you have for this role. These may have been gained either, from your work, or your involvement in guiding (if applicable) or other volunteer roles outside of guiding. (no more than 750 words).  Applications should be submitted by Sunday 1 December.
