Marketing and communications assistant role
35 hours per week – to be worked between 9am to 4.30pm (some evening and weekend working may be required).
A great opportunity has come up for an enthusiastic and creative person to join our small staff team and help us move our communications on from strength to strength within this vibrant charity for girls and young women.
Girlguiding North East England is the region that covers the area from Northumberland in the north down to Sheffield and North Lincolnshire in the south.
As members of Girlguiding, girls have fun, adventure and the space to discover their potential. They have a safe space in which to be themselves, build friendships, gain life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and the communities around them. This couldn’t happen without our network of committed and skilled volunteers who make these opportunities available. Most of the activity in guiding is managed and delivered by the volunteers, but within the region we have an office (based just outside York, at Monks Cross) with a small team of paid staff who help behind the scenes. Working predominantly with the senior volunteers in guiding we ensure that people have access to the information and resources they need to provide exciting experiences for the girls and young women in the movement.
The role of marketing and communications assistant is key to ensuring we continue to model a high calibre of communication to our members and prospective members. You will be articulate, familiar with different effective communications channels for a wide range of people (including social media, newsletters and press releases), and you may have had experience providing marketing or communications support to another charity, initiative or cause, either professionally or through your own volunteering or studies. Working closely with the lead volunteer for marketing and communications and the marketing and communications staff at Girlguiding headquarters in London you will ensure that events and initiatives are appropriately promoted, and achievements of our members celebrated.
