We will pass by Iron Age and Romano-British settlements and the former Youth Hostel at Wholehope before walking through a small part of Kidland Forest. On exiting the forest we will turn left left onto the moor and head over Copper Snout, passing near the remains of an illicit whisky still, hidden in the deep valley of Wholehope Burn. We head downhill from Copper Snout to the farm at Shillmoor where we will walk along the edge of The Knocks then steeply uphill over Pass Peth. Descending Pass Peth, we will then walk along the quiet road for 1km back to Alwinton.
