|What?||This weekend will cover most of the DofE expedition training needed for Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.|

The weekend will include training on navigation skills, route planning, map reading, food and cooking. You will also have time to socialise and make new friends. Walks will be tailored to Bronze, Silver and Gold levels as required and there may be an opportunity to plan further expeditions. You will need to bring a packed lunch for Saturday and make your own way to and from the venue.
This is the first stage of the three expedition events for those hoping to complete the expedition section. Practice expeditions for Bronze will take place on 18-19 July 2020, Silver on 17 – 19 July 2020 and Gold will take place from 17-20 July 2019. Assessment expeditions for Bronze will take place on 26-27 August 2019, for Silver on 25-27 August 2020, and Gold will take place from the late afternoon of 23 August – 27 August 2020. This event is open to Girlguiding DofE Award participants and those doing a walking expedition for Queen’s Guide. DofE participants should be registered for the award before attending this event. Leaders running DofE units may also apply to shadow groups and gain experience in running the expedition section of the DofE Award. There is funding available to help leaders working with young people in deprived areas, or for young people who experience some form of disadvantage. Please ask for an application form.

Bookings are taken through our online booking form below. Please select the appropriate level ticket. By booking onto this event you agree to our T&Cs for
DofE Walking Weekend.
You can pay by card, bank transfer or cheque; just select the option at check out.
Bookings close on 13 January 2020. After that date applications can only be considered if there is a spare bed at the hostel, and sufficient adult instructors available. So book early to be sure of a place.

The full cost of the event is given in the event information and is to be paid at the time of booking. Part of the full cost will be considered as a non-refundable deposit and this amount is also detailed in the event information.
Any applications made on line will be considered provisional until full payment is received and funds cleared.
A confirmation of booking will be issued by Girlguiding North East England.
Cancellation by Participant
Cancellation must be made via e-mail or in writing to the Girlguiding North East England office.
Deposits are non-refundable.
No refund will be made for bookings cancelled after the published closing date unless it is possible to fill the place.

Girlguiding North East England reserves the right to modify or cancel the event if unforeseen circumstances arise. In the event of cancellation a full refund of the event fee paid to Girlguiding North East England will be made to participants.
