Region Walking Group – January 2026 Walk
Walk Information Sheet: Saturday 17th January 2026
- Name of Walk: Lartington circular.
- Date and Time: Saturday 17 January: meet 9.45am for 10.00am start.
- Meeting Point: Lay-by on the minor road leading north from the east end of Bowes, off the A67. GR NY998181
- Map OS Explorer OL31 North Pennines
- Approximate length of walk/difficulty level: 14.25km, 250m ascent, level 2
- Details: From the car park we will walk N for a short distance before taking a bridleway W below Kirkstrevland Rigg to the SW corner of Loups Plantation. Here we turn N and follow the boundary of the Danger Area to Tinkler’s Quarry. The bridleway turns NE here following a line of grouse butts above How Beck. Below Fairy Head our path heads E past Burble Well and then across to Casset How. Shortly after this rise we leave the moor and progress towards Lartington. We circle the village and then walk E to W along the main Street. Our route then follows field paths SW to the Rigg and W over West Pasture to our starting point.
