Helen Storrow Seminar 2021

The Helen Storrow Seminar is WAGGGS’ (the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) international event for leadership development and environmental sustainability. This event usually takes place at Our Chalet, the World Centre based in Switzerland, but in 2021 it is entirely online.

This year Girlguiding UK are holding a weekend event in the UK for members aged 18-30, to allow more young women to participate in this international experience without travelling overseas.  ‘Pop-ups’ are national groups from around the world that interact and follow sessions virtually and the region have been invited to send a participant to attend the UK Helen Storrow Seminar ‘pop up’ from Friday 8 – Sunday 10 October 2021 at Foxlease.

For further information and to complete the application form to be considered as a participant for this exciting opportunity please click on the following links

The Super 7 challenge badge

We’re very excited to be able to share with you our challenge badge for Girlguiding Inspire, to give our members and volunteers aged 18 to 30 the opportunity to find out more about what is on offer to them within Girlguiding and empower them to try new things.

This challenge is flexible so you can pick the activities that suit your lifestyle and are most interesting to you. As the Girlguiding Inspire community we encourage you to team up to work on the badge or build a wider network by linking up with your local Trefoil Guild, other adult members, Rangers in transition or getting your unit involved.

Tag us in your achievements @GirlguidingInspireNEE and using #NEEsuper7!

What is Girlguiding Inspire?

Girlguiding Inspire is the community built for and by Girlguiding’s 18-30 year old members. There are almost 30,000 18-30 year old members, the biggest adult grouping by age, and over 98% of these young women are volunteers. For many people, the period between the ages of 18 and 30 is a time of significant change. Inspire has been designed recently to enable as many young people as possible to find their place within Girlguiding and the wider world. The aim is to expand the opportunities available to young women to develop and socialise as well as to promote a more flexible model of volunteering.  For more information, the main Girlguiding website has several pages to explore the opportunities available.

Meet your Inspire region team! You can reach them by emailing ‘‘ and keep up to date on social media!

Hannah –Inspire coordinator for North East England

“I’ve been the region coordinator since 2018 and I’m based in Sheffield where I work for a pharmaceutical consultancy. I like to travel so the next thing on my bucket list is an international trip with Girlguiding.”

Poppy- Social media and communications coordinator

“Alongside my Inspire communications role I’m also a North East England trustee, a Brownie leader and Assistant Division Commissioner, as you can tell I like to keep busy! Outside of guiding I am just finishing my masters degree in Law before starting a job in corporate risk assurance. I also have my own part-time bakery.”

Inspire Toolkits

The two toolkits below have been designed by Inspire members to engage leaders and commissioners who can encourage young women to get involved. They comprehensively introduce and explain the aims of Girlguiding Inspire, the seven pathways and how it can be put in to action at a local level as well as answering a number of frequently asked questions. The first toolkit is called ‘Introduction to Inspire’ and covers the key details!

Then we have the supporting Inspire toolkit which has more detail on putting the Inspire offer into action at a local level.

Wide Game Planning

This wide game planning document has been designed by the region Inspire team to help out those who might want some advice before running a wide game.

Inspire Survey

In the summer of 2020 we surveyed our 18-30 year old members in the north east about their experience of guiding. A one page summary of the results is available below:
