Tickets are almost ready to launch for this year’s Flamingo Fling!
On September 26th-27th 2020 all sections of Girlguiding North East England are invited to Yorkshire’s ultimate theme park attraction and the UK’s most visited Zoo – Flamingo Land!
Flamingo Land is situated at Kirby Misperton (which is off the A169 Malton to Pickering Road) and has something for everyone. If you have been craving adrenaline-fuelled thrills then look no further than the park’s new 2020 ride – a 10-Inversion Roller Coaster, 34 metres tall, featuring loops, corkscrews and heartline rolls at a maximum speed of 85 km/h! A great choice of junior and family rides awaits too, especially the prehistoric themed attractions of Dino-Stone Park. Meet the awesome Pterodactyl, putting you in a spin 45 meters above the ground. You can also enjoy the twisty-turny experience of Twistosaurus and a pedal powered flight on Cyclosaur, plus an amazing collection of animatronic dinosaurs and life-sized dinosaur skeletons.
With over 140 species, you can also enjoy the wonderful animal kingdom. From the plains of Africa, though the immersive wallaby and lemur walkthrough enclosures to the wonders of the UK’s largest penguin pool, Penguin Coast, Flamingo Land is sure to delight every animal lover. Whilst on your visit, look out for how to become a Girlguiding North East England Earth Warrior! You will need to complete our environmental activities on the day and bring an Ecobrick prepared previously by your unit so that it can be included in our big ecobuild on site. Complete all this and you will be rewarded by receiving our special Earth Warrior badge!
For those who enjoy a more leisurely day out, you can wander through the zoo and explore the plentiful coffee shops. There are places to sit, relax and soak up the atmosphere while meeting up with old guiding friends and watching our members have fun together! To make the event accessible to as many as possible, we have a variety of booking options. Visit for the either the Saturday or Sunday or BOTH, staying overnight with options for camping and small holiday homes available.
For more information please see the event page via the calendar and read our Flamingo Fling Facts sheet. Bookings are taken through our online booking form accessible through the calendar. No bookings will be taken after 22 May 2020 and we expect this to be a popular event so get in early. We can hardly wait!
