Volunteers’ Week (1st-7th June 2020)

Girlguiding is all about volunteers – they make our world go round! Across North East England our volunteers are offering girls and young women some incredible experiences, a place to share their voices and build skills and friendships which will last them a lifetime. This year we’ve all had to get used to some huge changes and every one of our volunteers has met challenges and carried on making a positive change in the world! More than ever we want to say a huge thank you to every volunteer and tell them how much we value them.

But we want to hear from you! From our young members, from families, from fellow Guiders and anyone else who knows what makes each volunteer so special. So below are a few ways you can get in touch to help us celebrate volunteers close to you.

Let’s hear about everyone:

We’d really like to hear a variety of volunteers celebrated. We value all our volunteers for any amount of Guiding they have done during this time but many are taking a break and we still want to shout ‘Thank You’ to them from the rooftops. Let’s celebrate volunteers for the amazing experiences they’ve offered in the past and for all the wonderful things they will do in the future too. Let’s celebrate volunteers of all ages and those who might not hold regular unit roles!

How to share:

We’re open to any ways you would like to send the love to volunteers but here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Send us a video or photo of you with a poster explaining what you appreciate about that person!
    • Try to make sure your camera or phone is landscape and there isn’t too much background noise.
    • Please make sure you send a signed photo permission : photo consent info sheet and form
  • Write a ‘Volunteer Valentine’ note or draw a picture to celebrate someone!
    • If you have a variety of drawings from girls in a unit you can send multiple and we can collage them together.
  • We also welcome short stories, videos, photos or drawings explaining what being a member of Girlguiding means to you. Our volunteers make a real difference in the lives of girls, young women and their families and Girlguiding is a huge part of volunteers’ lives too so we want to hear and share your voices to celebrate.

If you are happy for us to share your contributions on social media throughout Volunteers’ Week, please send your contributions to ‘info@girlguidingnortheast.org.uk’ or message it to us on Facebook by 12pm on Friday 29th May.
