In 2021 Girlguiding North East celebrates 50 years of the region! We’re planning lots of ways for members to get involved and have fun together but if you have anything you would like to see us do, of course let us know. Email: email@example.com.
The 50th Birthday Challenge
To celebrate our 50th birthday we have put together a challenge pack full of activities to help all our members learn more about the region.
We have challenges based on each of our 17 counties and focused around 5 themes: Landmarks, Famous Locals, Local Delicacies, Active Activities and Crafts. Most of the activities should be adaptable for Zoom and for completing at home as well as in the unit.
We hope to have the badge available to order soon and hope you enjoy the challenge.
Chief Commissioner Visits
Our Chief Commissioner team will be attending 50 unit meetings to celebrate our birthday with members and get to know you all better. We would love this visits to be with the widest possible range of units across the sections and the region.
This term these are all likely to be virtual meetings but we will be setting up in-person visits later in the year. If you would like to host but aren’t comfortable with virtual meetings or if you are particularly excited about your virtual guiding please indicate these preferences in an email.
Please get in touch if your unit would like to take part by emailing ‘firstname.lastname@example.org’.
Postcards from North East England
The North East international team are thrilled to be hosting a virtual weekend of celebrations for the 50th birthday of the region and World Thinking Day 2021!
Throughout the weekend we’ll have a mixture of activities on Zoom led by our volunteers as well as challenges to have a go at at home. We will have something for every section of Girlguiding from Rainbows to adults and members of Trefoil. To make a booking visit our Eventbrite.
For an activity during our Postcards from North East England event we’d love to hear from members about their favourite activities over the last 50 years. This could be a memory from a large event or your first beetle drive on Brownie pack holiday!
Please send us a landscape video clip (no longer than 30 seconds) telling us about your favourite activity. It would be great if you could wear uniform and try to ensure there’s no background noise. We’ll send you a photo permission form when you get in touch.
If filming a video clip isn’t your thing but you have a photo or memory of an activity to share, please get in touch too. Email us at email@example.com with your activity memories.
