This is an opportunity to complete all three sessions in our Introduction to being a Commissioner series in one day in a face-to-face setting. This training will help new (and newish) commissioners understand and carry out their role effectively in line with Girlguiding policies and procedures.
This session will give an overview of the topics below and provide an opportunity to share and discuss ideas with other new commissioners.
• Roles and responsibilities of a commissioner
• What type of leader are you?
• Establishing your team and delegation
• Communication and effective meetings
• Planning for your district / division
• Budgeting, reviewing unit accounts and year end forms
• Risk Assessments from a commissioners’ point of view
• The Residential Event Notification (REN) process and your responsibilities when authorising a REN
• What can Go do to support the commissioner
• Your responsibilities as a Trustee
• Ownership of property and management responsibilities
• Your role in promoting Doing Our Best standards and quality guiding
• What to look for when conducting a unit visit
• Potentially difficult situations and how to handle them
• Recognising leaders and awards at regional and national level
• Growth, retention and promoting Guiding
