Youth Network.
Our region youth network is currently made up of 13 young members aged 14-30
and gives them a platform to speak out about issues that are important to them, input into Girlguiding North East England decision making, and work with the region team to provide more exciting opportunities for young members.
Our youth network contribute to making the region more girl-led and making sure their voices (and those of their peers) are heard. They meet once a half term in person at the region office with occasional online meetings. Members of our youth network initially join us for one year with the opportunity to extend their role for a second year. This is a varied role and applications will open every summer for new members to join the network.
Some of our recent actions have included:
- Organising and facilitating Welcome to Bridge, the region’s first youth voice event where over 60 members aged 14-30 from across Girlguiding North East England came together to connect, learn new skills and find out more about opportunities in the region.
- Forming a young person panel as part of the interview process for the next region chief commissioner.
- Providing ideas and feedback to the Girl Experience team to inform future events for girls in 2025 and beyond.
