Join us at Hopetown, Darlington for a day to launch our NEE Railway Challenge – Celebrating 200 years of railway travel!
You will be free to explore the whole site, enjoying the exhibits at North Road Station Museum, The Carriage Works, the Locomotive Works, Skerne Bridge and Foundry Green. In addition, you will be able to take part in the following attractions as part of your tickets
- Rainbows and Brownies will enjoy a STEM session appropriate to their section and also a timed visit to ‘Wagon Woods’ a railway themed adventure play park that builds on the story of the Stockton Darlington Railway. You can find out more about Wagon Woods on Hopetown’s website – please read this!
- Guides and Rangers will enjoy a STEM session appropriate to their section and also a ride aboard Experiment! the immersive experience ride. You can find out more about Experiment! and any restrictions on Hopetown’s website – please read this!
PLEASE NOTE: When making your booking you will need to choose whether you would like your STEM session and visit to either Wagon Woods or ride on Experiment! (depending on section) in either a morning or afternoon session and you will be required to be on site during that time period – you can then vary your arrival/departure times to suit yourselves to fit in with the opening hours of 10.00 am – 5.00 pm. Please note there are limited number of tickets for each section for both morning and afternoon sessions.
All attending the event will receive an event badge.

Darlington is accessible by various transport means and you can find more details on Hopetown’s website.
How to apply:
There are limited numbers of tickets for each section and in both the morning and afternoon time slots and we expect tickets to sell quickly. This is the time to find out your numbers and collect money ready for ticket sales to open!
Please complete the booking section below. Make sure you choose the ticket for the correct section and time slot for your activities and book the correct number of tickets – you must only book for confirmed attendees. Alterations cannot be made to orders at a later date. If you want additional tickets, subject to availability, you will need to place a second order for these. Places are limited so please book as soon as possible.
Ticket sales will close when sold out or on 14 February 2025 whichever is earlier.
Ticket Availability Update: Please note all Brownie tickets have now sold out. If you would like to go on a waiting list should we have any cancellations or be able to reallocate any tickets from other categories please email info@girlguidingnortheast.org.uk.

Payments can be made via Paypal, card or BACS. If you wish to pay from a Paypal account or by card make sure you click on the ‘Paypal’ button – Paypal administer our card bookings for us. If you wish to pay by BACS click on the dropdown arrow next to ‘Pay by paypal’ and it will give you the BACS option. If paying by BACS please quote the reference ‘Hope’. BACS payments must be received within 48 working hours of booking or we reserve the right to cancel your booking.
Booking Terms and Conditions
By booking this ticket you are agreeing to the Girlguiding North East England booking terms and conditions as follows.
Girlguiding North East England are only responsible for putting on the event and the cost of the ticket only covers entry to the venue on the day and admittance to the additional attractions appropriate to your section and detailed above.
Units are responsible for
- the organisation of transport to/from the event and the cost of such is to be borne by the unit
- completing their own consent forms and risk assessments for the event
- managing any young members who do not have photo consents
- arranging their own Home Contact for the day
- ensuring that Girlguiding ratios for an event such as this, appropriate to the Section, are strictly complied with
- their own first aid during the event
- supervising their young members during the event.
Cancellation by Participant – Cancellation must be made via email or in writing to the Girlguiding North East England office. No refunds are payable on cancellation by the Participant.
Cancellation by Girlguiding North East England – Girlguiding North East England reserves the right to modify or cancel the event if unforeseen circumstances arise. In the event of cancellation being made by Girlguiding North East England a full refund of the event fee paid to Girlguiding North East England will be made to participants.
