Region Walking Group – July 2026 Walk

Walk Information Sheet: Saturday 11th July 2026

• Name of Walk: Barningham

• Date and Time: Saturday 11th July: meet 9.45 for 10.00am start

• Meeting Point: Barningham village, parking along the road just round
the corner from the pub – near the bus stop. If we have too many cars, we can move some further up the road. Grid Reference: NZ084103. Nearest toilets are at Scotch Corner Services.

• Map : Explorer OL 30 Yorkshire Dales Northern and Central areas

• Approximate length of walk/difficulty level: 15.55km (9.6miles), 384m ascent, Level 2

• Details: We leave Barningham on a path towards the church and then follow Low Lane west, turning onto the road for a short distance before taking the bridleway towards Bragg House. We then follow the road towards Haythwaite and enter the plantation. We exit this at Black Hill Gate and head uphill towards a junction of paths turning towards How Tallon Ridge and the trig point. We continue across the moor heading north east to Cathaw Stoop, leaving the access land to Park House. The walk ends by circling the outer edge of Barningham Park to return to the car. There is a very pleasant farm shop serving cold drinks and ice creams at the end. There are a few fords on this route. At the end of May, there was no water in them. If there has been heavy rainfall, we will amend this route.
