Starting to understand Autism – International Trips

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which affects how people communicate and interact with the world. One in 100 people are on the autism spectrum and there are around 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK.
We are running a virtual training for leaders taking young members on Girlguiding internationals in 2024 on starting to understand autism and how it could affect your trip.
By the end of the session leaders will have
- Considered what autism is
- Identified some of the challenges an autistic person may face
- Learned how we can support young people attending international trips with Girlguiding
- Developed skills needed to support communication with parents
